About My Ceramics
I craft my ceramics from the most local clays I can find. My designs are inspired by my winter at a historic site living on the Columbia River. I felt moved by the confluence of artifacts from the early salmon industry, the pipes of chinese workers, and the worn down remnants of nature and society that would wash up upon the beach every day. When I work I try to embody the receptive channeling presence that I have learned through eastern meditation and movement practices like qi gong and butoh dance. I choose my glazes for their natural qualities and to allow the basic element of the clay to speak for itself.
